Startup Weekend Utrecht is a 54 hour event where innovation will be put to practice. Like-minded entrepreneurial enthusiasts gather for a weekend of business creation. Starting from a vague business idea during the Friday night pitches through to a mind spinning startup company on the Sunday night. A truly great event for business people, game developers, designers, marketeers, everybody who feels connected, and is willing to take action! Startup Weekend has been in over 100 cities around the world in just 2 years, it is a great platform for the entrepreneurial community to share, learn, network, build, and start new ventures.

Bring your outrageous ideas for a new business concept related to, using techniques of, or based on the principles of interactive media and games, gamification and serious gaming. Be creative, be realistic, be progressive, talk about the gains; most likely you’ll find people that are willing to create your concept. Perhaps we will see the next angry birds fly out, or a true alternative for grand theft auto to prevent traffic jams, or a new ‘layar’.

Startup Weekend Utrecht will provide the networking, resources, and incentives for individuals and teams to go from idea to launch. Get connected with developers, innovators and entrepreneurs. Build your community, and be able to start your company.

Friday night is all about networking and the pitches. Those with an idea, give their one-minute elevator pitch to the crowd. The ideas that people like, and want to work with, get created. From there on, within 48 hours you have to deliver a product and business plan that can stand up to the harsh light of day. Mentors will be on hand throughout the time to help you fine tune the idea, into a working business model with huge potential.

Sunday night is where the jury panel comes in. Seasoned professionals that have been through the startup mill many times over will scrutinize and find the holes in the plan to evaluate the chances of real world succession.
